Wheel Throwing for the Beginner or Intermediate student.
This 4-session course runs once a week on Thursdays, April 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 6-8:30pm.
In this course, you will learn the basics of throwing clay on the potter's wheel to create bowls and cups. Focus will be on learning to center the clay and creating quality work. No experience is necessary, however, throwing on the potter's wheel requires a fair amount of physical strength and control and may not be suitable for everyone.
You may bring an apron if you prefer to wear one. Short/sport length nails highly recommended. Please leave jewelry at home.
Sessions 1-3 are throwing days. During session 4, you will glaze your bisque-fired items in a variety of food-safe glazes and leave them to be fired in the kiln. Finished works will be ready for pickup within 2-3 weeks.
This course includes group instruction, a bag of clay, tools, glazes, storage, and firings. Each student should expect to create up to 6-8 small finished pieces for firing, depending on skill level and experience.
- There is no makeup day for missed classes unless the teacher needs to reschedule a class due to illness or weather.
- No refunds. If you need to cancel the workshop purchase, the instructor will help you fit into an upcoming course.
